Job Description

The successful applicant will be joining an elite group of individuals charged with implementing and delivering all aspects of Vela feed handler products. This role is focused on ensuring that the software products have been designed, implemented and delivered to a common market data model that allows our customers to maintain their edge in the most challenging IT dependent sector in the world.

This will require an individual with excellent analytic skills, meticulous attention to detail and the ability to work with multiple engineering teams and stakeholders. It will be a very challenging and rewarding role ideally suited to a person who is willing to learn and with a desire for career progression.

Key Accountabilities

- Provision of financial market data content expertise to the teams across the Vela organisation

- Development of Vela Market Data Model to include new technologies and asset

- Support for the on-boarding of all new market data venues required by feed handlers, market gateways and other products

- Definition and promotion of good data normalisation practice for key trading events, principles and governance

- Development of processes and tools to enhance the quality and efficiency of market data management within Vela

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required


- A Degree (Min 2.i) in IT or Business with an IT related discipline or equivalent

- Effective communication – good oral and written interpersonal skills adequate for dealing & communicating clearly with people from all levels of the organisation

- Excellent problem solving and analytical abilities

- Good documentation and presentation skills

- Ability to work as a self-starter requiring limited supervision

- Proven track record of exceptional performance, high productivity and meeting deadlines

- Ability to multitask and prioritise responsibilities

- Highly motivated with desire to learn and broaden knowledge in a fast-paced environment

- Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodology

- Strong stakeholder management skills


- Understanding of Financial Markets – the trading of financial instruments (Equities, Derivatives, Fixed Income, FX)

- Ability to interpret financial market data for key trading events such as Quote, Trade, Security Status and Reference data across different market data feed protocols (e.g. FIX, ITCH)

- SQL and relational database experience

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, specifically Microsoft Excel

- Business process analysis/data modelling experience

- Experience of computer programming/scripting/Linux
